This song’s intro was used in the video I did introducing myself as a lifecoach. I didn’t choose this song but it found me. Photographer and friend Ja Tecson choose this in the editing process and now it is something I will keep in my “soundtrack” playlist on iTunes that will forever remind me of where my life turned because like water... I have now found my path and can move mountains.
What exactly does this mean? I guess if I could describe it in an emotion it would be happiness with a layer of curiosity that’s replacing… well, the opposite of lighter, so … heaviness.
For me, it is taking a deep breath in through my nose and slowly drawing out my exhale while letting my shoulders release with it.
For me, it is smiling at random times when I am alone and my awareness has focused on a particular object, event or situation that I am in. Because of this new attention on it, that was never there before, I smile even more!
For me, it is richness staking claim where “not enough” once dwelled. For example, my closet!! I am guilty of complaining that I never had anything to wear but now I see before me not only gratitude in possession but gratitude in choices. The choice to make the most of what I have instead of feeling less because of what I don’t have.
For me, it is moving toward pleasure and away from entertainment. Pleasure in taking my dog for a 3 mile walk while listening to one of my old favorite CD albums. Pleasure in sitting outside, pleasure in using stationary to hand write a letter to someone instead of a post. Pleasure over too much entertainment.
It is finding people, especially those I am most comfortable with, quite curious to me again! To watch with new eyes the mannerisms I often overlook that when really observed make me smile because of that person’s uniquness I may have forgotten about. It is to really listen to not only what they are saying but how they are saying it. This curiosity leads to my attentiveness and understanding of them, while reminding me of adjustments or reassurances that were not made on my part. Which leads me to …
Correcting, Changing, Realigning, Reconfiguring and transforming the way I live my life in regards to my highest value. Living life with this purpose makes me feel lighter in a way that any weight I may have felt before signaled to me the decision to drop it or change it. Each time this happened lighter becomes my best choice as an adjective to describe my transformation.
“start something that matters is really about how do you get significance in your life ? How do you do something that is helping you make a living and the things that you have to do but also the things you want to do…”—Blake Mycoskie
Leadership is not magnetic personality, that can just as well be a glib tongue. It is not “making friends and influencing people”, that is flattery. Leadership is lifting a person’s vision to higher sights, the raising of a person’s performance to a higher standard, the building of a personality beyond its normal limitations.
